Government Relations

There is no doubt that the ins-and-outs of local, state and federal regulations can be confusing and that the number of issues being considered at any one time can be overwhelming at best.  That is why PHCC-MPA is committed to serving as the voice of our members in these arenas and ensuring the continued success of the plumbing, heating and cooling industries through continued participation in the legislative process.

PHCC-MPA has been focused on advocacy for many years.  Bringing our members up-to-date and relevant information regarding the changes in regulations and practices that affect their industries is one very important way in which PHCC-MPA serves its members.   Specifically, PHCC-MPA provides its members with Wisconsin representation on the Plumbing Advisory Code Council, the HVAC Advisory Code Council, the Plumber’s Council, the Plumbing Apprenticeship Advisory Committee, and the HVAC Apprenticeship Advisory Council.  In addition, PHCC-MPA constantly advocates for the enhancement of public health and safety through licensure, codes, permitting, inspection, and enforcement.  We also monitor potential changes in the licensing law and other issues affecting contractors and, when appropriate, advocate for or against these changes.

Through our affiliation with the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors National Association, we are able to exert influence on national legislation and codes that affect our industry.  When it comes to monitoring and influencing policies that affect small businesses – in Wisconsin and throughout the nation – we are well-protected.

PHCC-MPA encourages its members to visit the Issues page of our Web site frequently to inform yourself of the current undertakings of the association as well as the current issues being addressed by local, state, and federal legislature.

In addition, PHCC-MPA encourages its members to become involved in this process.  If you would like to find a local representative to whom you can direct your comments, visit our How To Find Your Representative page.  Finally, PHCC-MPA has highlighted some additional resources that members may find helpful in researching these topics.  These can be found at the Industry Resources page.
